The McCall MacBain Foundation Mourns the Loss of Dr. Paul Farmer (1959-2022)

February 21, 2022 – The McCall MacBain Foundation is saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Paul Farmer, MD., PhD., leading expert in global health. Dr. Farmer was chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In 1987, he co-founded Partners In Health, a global non-profit bridging social justice and medical work to provide healthcare to the world’s poor.

Dr. Farmer’s work and philosophy, which championed the most underserved, was deeply influential on the Foundation’s early development and its own first decade of work in maternal health. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, and will be sorely missed around the world.
