Now Hiring: Research & Grants Officer - Toronto

Toronto, Ontario (February 19, 2020)

The McCall MacBain Foundation is seeking a highly motivated Research & Grants Officer who will work with our team to identify impactful granting opportunities and manage relationships with grantees doing outstanding work across our three funding areas – Education, Environment & Climate Change, and Health.

Working with a high-energy six-person team in downtown Toronto, the Research & Grants Officer will report to the two Directors of Grants, and will collaborate closely with all team members.

The Foundation

The McCall MacBain Foundation is an international philanthropic foundation whose mission is to improve the welfare of humanity by providing scholarships and other educational opportunities that nurture transformational leadership, and by investing in evidence-based strategies to address climate change, preserve our natural environment, and improve health outcomes.

We believe in the power of education, and scholarships in particular, to transform lives and in turn transform our communities to be fairer, healthier, and more prosperous for all. We believe that climate change is the single most pressing problem facing our planet and that we must all do our part to address it. And we believe in an evidence-based approach to health care that will lead to more efficient use of resources and greater impact for our communities.

The Candidate

You are a recent university graduate with quantitative and qualitative skills that equip you to do rigorous research. You enjoy chasing down data, information, and leading thinkers and actors in order to understand an issue in depth.

You have some work experience – perhaps from summer internships, perhaps from a first job following graduation.

And, as an engaged citizen, you have experience in one or more of the McCall MacBain Foundation’s funding areas. Maybe you led a campaign at your university to advance its environmental leadership or volunteered in a community organization to provide opportunities for transformation and growth for marginalized youth. Whatever your particular experiences, they’ve enabled two important things: (1) they’ve helped you to grow as a leader; and (2) they’ve deepened your understanding of social and environmental issues and how to address them effectively.

Above all, you are passionate and energetic, and looking to direct your energies and talents to causes you care deeply about. You see the McCall MacBain Foundation as a place where you can achieve that goal.
