WUSC (World University Service of Canada) is a Canadian global development organization with operations in 25+ countries, dedicated to catalyzing education and economic opportunities for young people, in particular young women, refugees and displaced people.
Its flagship Student Refugee Program (SRP) enables over 150 refugee students annually to resettle in Canada and pursue higher education across 100+ Canadian campuses using a unique youth-to-youth sponsorship model. Through this framework, student-led Local Committees raise funds for refugee student sponsorship and provide essential social and academic integration on campus.
Since 2023, our support has enabled WUSC to host its annual Local Committee National Training Program. This three-day, in-person gathering convenes student leaders from every Canadian Local Committee to build leadership capabilities, strengthen campus chapters, and drive program impact. Training covers team leadership, public policy advocacy, community mobilization, strategic partnerships, and peer-to-peer best practice exchange. Additionally, the grant funds ongoing national network support and inter-campus collaboration year-round.
