ECF was created by a group of philanthropic foundations to collboratively invest in research, policy development, and advocacy in order to increase the political and policy viability of pursuing a net-zero carbon future. John McCall MacBain was the founding Chair of this organization. Since inception, ECF has grown to be one of Europe (and the world’s) most influential leaders in the fight against climate change. It hosts a variety of initiatives across several issue areas including energy, finance, governance and industry. The Foundation remains one of ECF’s largest donors since its founding.
