SHAD

SHAD provides 200 Canadian high school students per year with an intensive, residential, month-long summer enrichment program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics and entrepreneurship. Those selected to join the program demonstrate creativity, intellectual curiosity and leadership skills and show these qualities in a variety of ways. The SHAD experience involves lectures, workshops, and projects to build participants’ team-work, problem-solving and leadership skills. The unique experiential learning part of the program includes participants being challenged with a social or economic problem and working with their peers to bring their solutions to life. Participants are inspired and encouraged to find ways to start making a difference. With a growing total of more than 16,000 fellows, SHAD’s network includes Rhodes Scholars, Schulich Leaders, Loran Scholars and many prominent entrepreneurs, industry leaders and accomplished professionals. The McCall MacBain Foundation provides bursaries for students from rural, remote, Indigenous or low-income backgrounds to participate in this experience.
