Honorable Donald J. Johnston is Director, Chief Advisor and Chair of the Grants Committee and is integrally involved in the McCall MacBain Foundation and its planning, initial structure and forthcoming operations. Don Johnston is Canadian and was born in a farming community. He received his Law degree at McGill University in Montreal and was the Gold Medalist. Following a career in the law and as a minister in the Canadian Government, including Minister of Justice and Minister of the Treasury, he was most recently the Secretary-General of the OECD in Paris, France from 1997 to 2006. Don Johnston was recently awarded Canada’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada. Don Johnston's particular areas of interest are education, economic development and sustainable development. He is fluent in English and French.
